Hatice Hasturk

Hatice Hasturk, DDS., Ph.D., is Senior Member of the Staff and the Director of the Center for Clinical and Translational Research at the ADA Forsyth Institute, Cambridge, MA, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Boston University Henry Goldman School of Dental Medicine and Lecturer at the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Hasturk received a certificate of advanced graduate sciences in periodontology from Boston University in 2004. She is a board-certified periodontist and implant dentist practicing part-time along with her research activities at Forsyth Faculty Dental Associates clinic.
Dr. Hasturk’s research has focused on the mechanisms between periodontitis and systemic inflammatory diseases, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and the treatment of periodontal diseases by regulation of inflammatory response. She has received numerous NIH and Industry grants studying inflammation and novel therapeutics in the resolution of inflammation. Her research focus has been on clinical and translational research since early 2000 and is supported by grants from the NIH/NIDCR, industry and foundations. She has authored/co-authored 130+ original articles with an h-index of 55, numerous abstracts and book chapters in peer-reviewed dental and medical journals.
Dr. Hasturk is the recipient of the 2016 International Association of Dental Research (IADR) William Geis Award, the 2020 American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Clinical Research Award, and the 2020-2021 American Dental Association (ADA) Norton Ross Award for Excellence in Clinical Research. She was inducted to Fellow of American College of Dentists in 2022. She is a member of the IADR, AAP, ADA, European Federation of Periodontology, and International Academy of Periodontology.
