Dr. Srinivas Myneni

Dr. Srinivas Myneni completed his bachelor’s in dental surgery in 2005 at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, India. Upon completing his clinical training, Dr. Myneni moved to the United States to complete a dual PhD/ Periodontics residency program at the
University at Buffalo.
Dr. Myneni is a Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontology & Endodontics at the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. In addition, he is the Director of the Advanced Dental Education Program in Periodontics and the Director of Periodontal Research in the department.
As a Surgeon-Scientist, Dr. Myneni specializes in the comprehensive surgical management of patients with periodontal diseases and other related systemic conditions. Dr. Myneni’s research and clinical programs are closely integrated. His research addresses the many challenges that clinicians face in the clinical management of patients with a focus on novel therapies for the treatment of periodontitis and peri-implantitis and the influence of circadian rhythm on oral health and disease, all of which have significant implications on the human body functions well beyond the borders of the oral cavity. As the Director of Periodontal Research in the Department of Periodontology and Endodontics at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine, he leads a team of clinicians and scientists dedicated to solving challenging clinical problems using innovative translational research and knowledge translation techniques.
Dr. Myneni has contributed to 25 manuscripts, eight as a major or senior author, all appearing in well-respected journals in his field of study. He also helped prepare two book chapters, one of which was in the most used text in periodontology internationally. He had 24 abstracts accepted for presentation at the meetings of research organizations in periodontology and implant dentistry.
Dr. Myneni received the highest honors offered by his dental specialty - the American Academy of Periodontology. This included awards for his excellence in teaching and mentoring, an educator's scholarship, and a teaching fellowship.
Dr. Myneni has also been engaged in substantial service activities. He has been appointed to several committees in his specialty organization and for the past four years, he has been a Board Examiner for the American Board of Periodontology. As a respected author, he has reviewed several journals in his field of expertise. He is a resource to the community, using his specialty clinical skills to help ensure Long Islanders have access to the type of care they require and in a setting that best accommodates their unique situations.
